Let's work together to build something amazing...
The Cuttlefish Engine is still young, and an engine this young lives or dies by its community. We want you guys - the people developing awesome games with this tool - to drive its direction.
Subscribe
By far, the best thing you can do to help ensure the future of the engine is to purchase a subscription. Win-win: you're getting a tremendous discount off the final price, and we're getting funds we can fold back into making the engine even better.
Kickstart
Kickstarter works like so: you pledge some amount (say, $20), but don't actually pay that until enough people also pledge, and the funding threshold is reached. Once that happens, work starts, and you get regular updates about progress, until completion.
When a feature doesn't quite make the cut for the next engine update, we'll occasionally offer it as a kickstartable, implemented by a programmer working independently, but in contact with Cuttlefish.
If you've got something that should be a kickstartable, you can either start it yourself, and we'll link to it here, or you can post on the forums to see about getting someone to kickstart it for you.
Here's the current kickstartables:

Contribute
The engine is completely free and open source - extend at will! But talk to us first, as there's a good chance we can point you to someone who's also had (or has) the same needs. Once you've gotten something working, please consider sharing it with the community. Post it on the forums, anything - we'd love to have it!
The pillars of the community are the first place we look when we need to grow the organization, or contract out small tasks. The same holds true for other people and companies looking to hire someone to make a game. There's an opportunity here - become a go-to guy now, while Cuttlefish is still young, and as it grows, your opportunities will also!
Here's some specific ways you can become a leader in this new community:
- Templates - if you'd like to contribute a game object, or maybe some art packaged as a ready to go tile set, or image layer, flipbook, or font - just post the ZIP file on the forums. The templates are built specifically to be shared anywhere!
- Platforms - if you desperately want support for a certain device or platform, get in contact with Mason to see about becoming the owner of the builder for that platform. These are more serious commitments, and will demand more of your time, but also carry bigger rewards!
- Docs - There's no such thing as "too much documentation." If there's something you think others should know, post it directly on the most appropriate page. If you create tutorials or videos explaining a particular technique - tell us, and we'll link them into our docs.
- Games - Right now, we're specifically looking for awesome examples of what's possible using the engine. If you've got a game that really showcases the power of Cuttlefish, we want to know about it, and we can help you increase its visibility.
